Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will therapy take, and how many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s journey is unique to them. The number of sessions will depend on your personal progress. A review is conducted after 6 sessions. This will give you and your therapist the opportunity to discuss your progress and assess your therapeutic journey together.
  • How long is a session?
A session lasts 60 minutes/1 hour. This will ensure you have plenty of time to share with your therapist what you feel you wish to discuss on the day.
  • What happens during a session?
Each session gives you the opportunity to openly share the challenges you are going through and the emotions linked to them. Your therapist will carefully listen and help you understand your thoughts and make sense of your emotions and behaviours. They may make suggestions on how to manage your emotions but will not offer direct advice or answers on how to deal with personal situations.
  • Will I need to do “homework” in between sessions?
In general, no “homework” is required in between sessions. However, there are times when your therapist may recommend mental or breathing exercises to help you manage difficult emotions outside of therapy sessions. They may also suggest reading certain articles, books, or extracts if they feel this is suitable. Whether you choose to practise or read is solely your decision based on how you are feeling. No judgement is made, your therapist is always there to support you throughout each session.
  • How does payment work?
Payment is required in full prior to the start of each session via bank transfer. Payment details will be provided as part of your initial contract.
  • Can I reschedule my session?
We understand that there are times when you may need to reschedule a session. We ask that you allow a minimum of 24 hours’ notice before the start of your session. Your therapist will make every effort to find a suitable alternative date and time for the same week to limit disruption to your progress. If you are unable to attend a session and have not given notice, that session will be charged in full.
  • What happens if I am late for a session?
If you are late for a session, your therapist will stay online for 15mins to allow for any eventualities. If you do not make contact in this time, the session will be considered missed and cancelled, and you will be charged. If you are late attending the session, your therapist will still end at the original time.
  • Can I contact my therapist anytime I need them?
Your therapist is available to support you during a session. Contact outside of a session should be limited to appointment bookings and amendments. However, we understand there are times when contact may be required outside booked session times. If that is the case, please bear in mind that the telephone number and email address provided by your therapist are not manned 24/7. Messages will only be viewed intermittently during working hours. Your therapist will aim to respond within 48hrs weekdays and 72 hours at weekends, unless agreed otherwise during your sessions. Please speak to your therapist about this.
  • Is my information safe with you?
YES. NeuroClear has a framework that safeguards the rights and freedoms of individuals in relation to their personal data. Your personal, sensitive, and confidential data is held securely in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). NeuroClear adheres to best practice in the management of client information and business records. Under GDPR, you can make a request in writing for all your records to be deleted. NeuroClear’s Privacy Policy or full Information Governance Policies and Procedures can be accessed/requested via the website.
  • What if therapy is not working for me and I do not wish to continue?
You may at times find therapy very difficult, become distressed and feel the need to end. In such circumstances, we ask that you approach your therapist about these difficulties, rather than suddenly ending, as this could well deprive you and your therapist of the chance of resolving important issues. Should you still wish to end your therapeutic journey following your chat with your therapist, then you are free to do so. Therapy is a choice and requires commitment, your therapist will respect your decision to stop and will not make contact with you moving forward. If your decision changes further down the line, and you feel you would like to resume therapy, then we would encourage you to reach out again.
